Halloween was not known as Halloween centuries ago. Halloween is a 2000 year old holiday that dates back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. On the last day, the 31st of every October of the Celtic calendar, is a day to commemorate the dead and the lost souls that rises up from the dead and walks the Earth. On the other hand, Halloween is interpreted by the Catholic religion as “All Hallows Eve” which occurs on November 1st. All Hallows Eve was considered a time to observe and honor saints. Along the passing of these stories from generation to generation it has integrated and became known today as Halloween.
Halloween is an analogy of death. As summer transitions to fall, the sun sets early, and winter takes it place, Halloween symbolizes death whereas Halloween decorations are in association with dark and spooky colors.
Halloween dates back many centuries and is celebrated by a majority of the population from the youth to grown adults. Halloween is a holiday between but now has become an innovative market. It is considered one of the most lucrative holidays and rakes up nearly of $6 billion yearly. Although the industry manufactures products from ghoulish costumes to spooky outdoor decorations, food essentially remain intact with ancient tradition.
During Halloween, the shelves are stocked with sweets, treats, and other spooky accessories such as candy corns, ominous style makeup, and an abundance of pumpkin garnishes.

Ingredients:
-one 8ounce package cream cheese
-5 smoked almonds
-1 cup raspberry preserves
-one 1/2 tablespoons adobo sauce from canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
-one 1/2 tablespoons raspberry vinegar
-Wheat or Melba crackers
Method
Place cream cheese in center of serving platter. Using a sharp knife, cut 4 lengthwise slits in cream cheese, equally spaced, approximately halfway down the block of cream cheese, cutting all the way through the block of cream cheese. Using your hands, shape five “fingers” from the cut sections of the cream cheese. Round off opposite end of block of cream cheese to resemble palm. Place smoked almonds at the tip of each finger to resemble fingernails. In a small bowl, stir together raspberry preserves, adobo sauce, and raspberry vinegar. Pour raspberry mixture over palm end of cream cheese. Serve with wheat or melba crackers.
